Our Beginning

— My dream has for a long time been to create a wine from locally grown grapes in the Sognefjord, Norway - 61.1 degrees north - as far north as sourthern Greenland or Anchorage in Alaska. In 2014 my partner, Halldis, told me i should just go ahead and do it - and she would help me make it happen.

Since 2014 we have been hard at work - creating what has become the northern most commercial vineyard in the world. We have done it without using any machinery and by only growing organically.

When we found the most suitable land for our vineyard, we immediately started working and now we have won several gold medals in blind wine tasting competitions with acclaimed wine critics on the panel.

It is cold at night and hot during the day in our summers and it is light outside almost 24 hours. We therefore have the perfect climate to make unique wines - as long as we ripen the grapes.

“Even experienced wine critics tell me they have to re-evaluate their relationship to northernly grown red wines.”

We have been producing since 2015 and experimenting with different wines trying to find what works best for our ground and climate. So far, many of our efforts have produced excellent results.
